Department Of Prosthodontics And Dental Materials
Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences is well equipped with state of the art Prosthodontics Department under Prof. Dr. Meenu Merry.C.Paul (HOD) with Dr. Pius.A.V , Dr. Sanju John Jolly and Dr. Shibu George as Readers, Dr. Binsu.S and Dr.Seema George as Senior Lecturers, assisted by Dr. Liggy George ,Dr. Minu John and Dr. Fathima Seethi as Lecturers . The Department also has an adequate number of dedicated supporting staff.
Pre Clinical Prosthodontics and Dental Materials
The Preclinical Prosthodontics lab has a seating capacity of 50, and the preclinical Dental Materials lab has 25. There are 50 and 28 burners respectively in each of the above departments to ensure comfortable working environment for students.

The dedicated and sincere members of this department handle the lecture classes and guide the students in their practical works. The Dental Material lab and Lecture classes are handled by the staff of both Prosthodontics and Conservative Dentistry Department.
All the practical works prescribed by the Mahatma Gandhi University are being followed according to the norms. Dental materials & Prosthodontics topics related to the preclinical exercises are also taught simultaneously.
The II BDS ( Regular-New Scheme) University exams for Dental materials and Preclinical Prosthodontics was conducted by the M.G University in February- March 2011.
The preclinical Prosthodontics practical and theory classes for the I BDS (2010 Batch- new scheme-Kerala University of Health and Allied Sciences) is going on as per the university regulations and syllabus.
The students are offered around the clock advises related to all topics to ensure that the department produces the most proactive dental students.
Prosthodontics Clinic
The Prosthodontics Clinic is equipped with 17 dental chairs with necessary attachment provisions for airotors and micromotors.

Currently , our III BDS (2007 Batch ) is undergoing Clinical training in Prosthodontics.

We have a well-established Dental Material Museum, where almost all the materials used in dentistry are exhibited.
