Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Science has a well equipped Oral & Maxillofacial department with well qualified teaching staff. The department handles all types of Pathological & Surgical cases. The department is located in the new block. The details of, equipments, instruments and consumable items, and treatments performed are given in separate annexure.

The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is headed by   Dr. Sr. Mary John .P. M.Sc, M.D.S. The faculty includes Dr. Sajjad Salam M.D.S,    Dr. Priya .S. M.D.S, Dr. Mathew .O. Mampilly M.D.S, Dr. Santhini Ramachandran B.D.S and Dr. Sherin Mathew B.D.S. The department conducts regular clinics and has a patient in flow of not less than 30 per day. 3rd year students attend clinical postings. Regular discussions and clinical demonstrations are conducted. Seminars are also presented in a daily basis. Students take regular extraction cases. We have a minor surgery unit where we do Impactions, Apicectomies, Incision and drinage, Frenectomies, Cyst enucleations, Sinus surgeries, Mucocele excisions, Biopsies. In our department implant placements are also done.
